Getting to Al-Azhar Mosque is relatively straightforward, especially with modern navigation tools. If you are traveling from Cairo International Airport, the mosque is about 16 km away. You can opt for a taxi, ride-sharing service, or the city bus.
If you are staying in downtown Cairo, the mosque is easily accessible by metro. The closest metro station is Attaba, from where it’s a 10-minute walk to the mosque. Alternatively, you can hire a taxi or use a ride-sharing service from anywhere in the city.
When to Visit
While Al-Azhar Mosque is open all year round, it’s best to visit during the cooler months from October to April when Cairo’s weather is most pleasant. It’s also worth noting that Fridays and Muslim holy days are particularly busy, so plan your visit accordingly if you prefer a quieter experience.
