The Legend of Menganti Beach
Menganti Beach is not only known for its natural beauty, but also has a very interesting legend, which is related to the history of the Majapahit Kingdom.
According to the story circulating among the local community, in ancient times, there was a commander from the Majapahit Kingdom who fled to the south coast of Java after his love affair with his lover did not get the blessing of the king.
This commander planned to meet his lover on a beach that had beautiful white sand. However, despite waiting all day on the beach, the lover never came. Because of his disappointment, the commander finally named this beach ” Menganti”, which means “waiting”.
